Thank you! I enjoyed hearing from many of you who wrote in: some to tell me how the story made them think about their Next Great Next; some to set up a phone call to talk; and some to tell me how Brady was going to trounce Stafford. Keep those emails coming! I want to hear your thoughts for what comes next: that’s the business we’re in at ExecuNet!

Two weeks ago, I put out there that moving on to the Rams was Stafford’s Next Great Next (and the Rams’ too) and it came from out of the blue. I called Stafford a winner no matter what happened, and sending Tom Brady into retirement and moving on to the Super Bowl puts the icing on that cake.

But what about Tom Brady? What’s his Next Great Next?

Brady certainly didn’t make this decision after losing to the Rams. He’s been setting up his next chapter for a while now. He did one Next Great Next by moving to the Bucs when the Pats told him he was too old for a long-term contract. That was what was next for him then. Most players his age are no longer in the league, so you can be sure that as a QB in his 40s he’d thought long and hard about what would be next and when. It’s not like he was forced out of the league because he was too old to get it done. Despite his age he was still one of the best players at his position and even in the conversation for MVP this season. He just wants different challenges now. No matter who you are or your circumstances, it’s wise to consider what comes next.

Brady has options and three business ventures percolating: a non-fungible token, an apparel company, and a lifestyle and wellness company. These, in some capacity we don’t yet know, will likely be what’s next for Brady. But he’s been thinking about it awhile.

How about you? Have you thought about what comes next and how you get there? I’m not talking retirement. I’m talking about what’s your Next Great Next?
