According to ExecuNet research:

Search firm recruiters only post 15 percent of executive level jobs ($200k+) online and only 13 percent of their candidates come from online postings.  One in four of their candidates is found in their own database.

Corporate recruiters only post 5 percent of their $200K+ jobs online and only 8 percent of their candidates come from online postings. On average, 14 percent of all positions were filled with internal candidates.

The top three resources recruiters rely on to find candidates are:

  1. Referrals
  2. Their personal candidate prospect files
  3. Online networking

Corporate recruiters have more success posting their jobs and using social media than search firm recruiters.
